Gate City Yarns

The Shop opened it was wonderful!!  I have been so busy this is the first chance I have been able sit an blog about it.  It was great to see everybody. All the flowers and foods were greatly appreciated....We even had flowers from one of the vendors!!

Since opening we had to deal with the Obama rally. We were a little slower then we would have liked but we still had customers and we could hear the speech inside the store. Before the speech Miss Olive Oyl was outside the store trying to get people to help her get rid of the McCain/Palin supporters. Hearing Olive tell off the republicans was a little funny.

We had our first "First Friday." We had spinners from Durham show up. Some of my good friends were there, Anne, Jared, Allen, Jimmy and Amanda. It was so much fun.

New stock has come in: Cascade 220. I know we are about to get a really cool new fixture and a new window display.

Well look foward to seeing everybody on Saturday.

Its been a while

Okay I know its been a while but with everything that has gone on in the last few months I haven't had time to sit a blog. Okay with in the last few months we have had both the dogs at the vet one injured the other with a ear infection. Trying to get Gate City Yarns open. Raising a tween and a teen...Okay that in itself is two full time jobs!!!!! Then our regular boring jobs UGH!!!!!! Then getting tendonitis in my right hand....WAH!!! NO KNITTING OR SPINNING!!!! WAHH!!!..........I hope to be able to at least sit an update my blog at least once a month.

I can't wait until the store opens it looks so wonderful it is going to be so worth the wait!!! I am so excited. You know it's funny some people haven't realized that though it has been fun, though stressful, setting up the new store, it also has been had to be patient cause I haven't had any place to hang out to knit. I know that I have my stitch n bitches that I could go to but I haven't had time for them either. When we have free time, which is rare, we have been hold up at home enjoying it. Sounds selfish but hey we it comes so rare you become greedy for it.

Can't wait to see all of you at Gate City Yarns

Test Result

Sorry for ignoring the blog. I have been really busy since I have been out of the hospital, that I have not really had time to sit a even think about it. First of all I would like to say that with all the complaining that my family did, in the end they actually did come thru for me. My Mom didn't come down but she was trying to figure a way to without getting fired. I told her not to, if there was a possiblity she would loose her job! My Dad and my Step Mom actually came and stayed for 3 days and took care of the kids (both the 2 and 4 legged kind) . My neighbors next door took care of the 4 legged the first couple of days when my family couldn't be there and the kids were at the Ex wifes house. So all in all everyone pitched in. Oh and if I had to have had to of Stayed longer the blessing in my and Carl's life named Tina had offered to help with the kids the rest of the week as my Parents couldn't stay any longer then the 3 days. Ya know sometimes you worry a freakout and panic...but those who really love you (though bitch and whine) really do pull through!!!!

Okay the test result came back inconclusive. I know all that drama and nothing to show for it. Well the one thing we know is that at this time "Major" brain surgery is not in the picture, that whatever is going on is still in the early early early stages so we can watch is progress and still catch it early enough that we can hopefully treat it that it never gets really bad (well hopefully) and there is always the hope that this was just a total fluke. We will have to wait and see what the future holds but hey we would have to do that no matter what the test results had said.

To all my family I hope that none were hurt by what I said prior and hope you understand that though I meant what I said at the time, it was also said when I was angry, scared and hurt. I do love all of you and I hope that you will understand.

Family the ties the GAG!!!!

The late Erma Bombeck wrote a wonderful book called "Family: The ties that bind and gag." It was one of the funniest books I had ever read as I saw members of my own family in her stories. It is sad though when you go from laughing at your family stories to wanting to strangle yourself for living in one. I, being the only one who actually speaks to everyone, would be the one that nobody is willing to help!!!!

I'm going into the hospital at the end of this week and so far my family has done nothing but complain! My mom says she feels guilty that she can't be here when I need here but she doesn't feel that she can ask off for work as they have already cut hours at her two jobs (that she moved to Boone to get to support my brother while she put him through college for the 2nd time never mind that i still haven't been all the way once.) My step mom has told me that I should put off the test until summer when it is more convienent for everyone as I won't need as much help as the kids will be out of school. (never mind that I keep having black out periods where people are having conversations with me that I don't even remember and I'm not suppose to be driving). My Father hasn't called me yet and all I got when I did talk to him is well we will have to see as I'm busy with your sister. I realize that my sister is having really bad issues with her son and If I could I would be helping her myself but I only need him for a few about 2 to 3 days my sister and her husband can last for that long with out my dad. UGH!!!!! My Brother though knowing everything that is going on no offer, no well let me see what I can do, not even I'm sorry I'm not able to get off from work to come down. I have gotten more offers from Friends then I have my own family. My Sister I understand her son's health is not good and I hold nothing against her she is not able to. But the rest of my family. I am Angry and upset with.......hurt!!!!!!! As usual....I'm on my own!

Relief

Good News for a change!!!!!

Carl had a cardiac catheterization on Thursday. His Cardiologist thought he had, due to results of a nuclear stress test, blockages in his heart. It turned out he had NONE!!!! WE ARE SO HAPPY!!!!!! I relieved more then anybody can understand. It was so nice to get good news for a change!!! The Dr is going to make him go on a Diet and he has to loose weight but this is better then what we could have been dealing with!!!

Oh Nicholas goes off to Disney next week for the 8th grade field trip. I'm a little nervous. This isn't the first time that he has gone away on a over night field trip but this is the first one that is so far and so long. He is my baby!!!! OK, he is 13 and that isn't really a baby but no matter how old he is he will always be my baby!!!! He will only be gone for 4 days but still that is 4 days out of state w/people that are not me and not family. My baby is growing up!!!!

UGH!!!! The head

Can't wait until Jan 14th gets here. Go see a new Dr and hopefully he can tell me what is wrong with me....though hopefully he can find my brain if not maybe if I knit a new one he will install it for me..lol.

Again for the forth or 5th time I am frogging out a sock I started something about this pattern is just killing me I just can't seem to get it. It really simple but I keep screwing it up. It's P1, ssk, K1, YO, K1, YO, K1, k2tog, P1 Repeat around. It works out twice on each needle. I can go for about 4 rows then i screw the pattern up some how and either have to many stitches or not enough. I tried to just have one screwed up row but it didn't work cause it screwed the next row up as well. UGH!!! I am determined to get this pattern though.

I finally got the class schedule for Yarns Etc Greensboro posted yesterday....I was so happy I was going crazy about that...I couldn't get it to post. The program I use kept telling me that if I published it was going to break all my other links. Then one of my dearest friends...thanks Tina you were a life saver.....that I was using old software and the other person who upates the other area of the website probably was using the newest version....DUH!!!!!

Okay ranted enough for today

Raising Kids

I wish kids came with owners manuals UGH!!! We discovered the kids went through our closet a few weeks ago. They took something that belong to them however they had to search through my closet to get to it. Also found out my son had gone out to the storage building and gotten one of our old computers, then tore it apart to see how it worked as well as an old NES. They don't understand what they did wrong...grounding has been fun!!! UGH I hate punishing them but they need to understand that they can't jsut go through other people's stuff. If there is something they need they should ask for it. Plus they can't just take something that doesn't belong to them and take it apart for their own curiosity.
