People for the Ethical Treatment of Plants

Okay I came across this interesting little web page that I'm not totally sure if the person meant it as a joke or as a rant but I agreed with most of the main points.  PETP - People for the Ethical Treatment of Plants.

"PETP does not support the killing of animals for fun or sport. But it does oppose the cribbing and wastage of the time of our criminal courts that animal rights activists undertake when animals are removed in pubilc interest or they are used for food.

PETP does not oppose the eating of plants. It only opposes the "DON'T EAT AN ANIMAL EAT A PLANT INSTEAD" attitude. It believes that even plants are living beings. And though they are inanimate they deserve the same treatment that is sought for animals. " SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST" is rule of nature. Nature has created devices to maintain it's harmony. one of these is the food chain.

LET US NOT DISTURB NATURE'S HARMONY!" (Quoted directly from the website)

I just don't understand how people can rant and rave about killing a living breathing animal but then have no problem killing a living breathing plant for food.   Then sit there and say well it is a renewable resource and it doesn't feel.  How to we really know just because it doesn't feel things the way we do doesn't mean it doesn't feel.  I'm not saying that they think or even feel who knows I don't, I don't pretend to totally understand nature but I am saying that science doesn't totally understand plants because they compare everything to humans so they will always say somthing doesn't feel as long as they can't find a nervous system similar to our own.

I am not saying stop eating plants and kill only animals to say that would be just as bad as the people that say the reverse.  As we are apart of nature, no matter how much we don't think we are, we should try to help maintain the Harmony of the circle of life!!!

HELLO! NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU DON'T WANT TO FACE IT HUMANS ARE ANIMALS AND A PART OF THE HARMONY OF NATURE!!!!

The bad friend

Before I get started just one little rant.  Ok I really wanted snow but HELLO it was suppose to be during the week!!! not on the weekend though I have to say having the kids home instead of them going to the egg-donors was nice.

Ok I need to SOOO apologize to all my friends that I have been ignoring lately.  Trust me it hasn't been because I don't care I just have been caught up in my own little world.  I know that isn't the best reason but hey it is the truth.  Work has been sort of UGH and I have had headaches and so I just have been crashing at the house whenever I get a chance.  I know I know I shouldn't do that but I just have want to sleep and veg.  Ok I promise I am getting back up and out.  I will call and text more.

Hugz to you all.

It's December

Okay I should be beat because I haven't been knitting, spinning or felting...  I know I know I know for the knitting cub not to be doing anything is a little crazy.    I have been shopping instead and dealing with the drama that is my son so.......  I know that knitting is a better therapy then shopping but it's christmas and the kids only will take so many knitted items.  They want electronics I mean they are teenagers.  Also I have been playing with my new toy.....My MacBook.  When you have something this nice it is hard to put it down.

Lizzy is turning 14 in 3 days and UGH I am feeling OLD!!!!!!.   I would show you what I bought her for her birthday on here however just in case her nosiness reads my blogg.

DISMISSED......that is truly how you spell relieve!!!

About two months ago my 15 year old son in all his teenage wisdom (snicker) decided to charge up our cell phone to a whopping $600 dollar cell phone bill.  To say the least we were, shall we say a bit mift,....Okay, Okay the proverbial shit hit the windmill (I'd say fan but that is just to damn small in this case).   Well using this "Great, Powerful and All Knowing Teenage Wisdom"  he asked another Teenage Scholar what to do to earn the money to get his Teenage Butt out of the Litter box.  (I know most people would say doghouse but come on $600 ya need to be some where a bit stinkier)  Now this Teenage Scholar, surprisingly did ask one intelligent question: "How do you normally earn money?"  Which for my son is by doing chores for my elderly parents or his Mother (the ex).   However he didn't have enough time at their houses to earn a lot of money.  This is where the Plan was hatched by the scholar and my son in his wisdom thought it to be grand.

Jr would get some of my prescription drugs and bring them to school.  The  scholar would then turn him in saying he saw them over Jr's shoulder.  At which time Jr would be suspended for 10 days.

What really happened however:

Jr brought the drugs to school.  The scholar took two of the pills saying he would need proof.  (this happened on the way home from school)  The next day Jr told the scholar to get rid of the pills he changed his mind.  The scholar gave a pill to a girl who got sick (topamax can really mess ya up if you all of a sudden take 200mg).   She got scared and passed out.  She told on the scholar who told on Jr.

The School suspended Jr and the resource officer said he wasn't going to charge Jr. A month later I got a letter in the mail stating Jr was facing felony charges for Manufacturing Schedule 1.  Well to make a long story sorter (I know to late)  I hired a lawyer as Topamax, though a prescription medication, is not a schedule 1 drug.  Actually it isn't any schedule drug it isn't classified as a controlled substance by the DEA.  They were also calling it a narcotic anti depressant.  It isn't a narcotic and it isn't a anti-depressant.  It is a anti-convulsant used to treat migraines and has been used by some
Dr's to treat the Manic stages of Bi-polar disorder as a side affect  is depression.

The DA, after our lawyer showed her our evidence, moved for all charges to be dismissed.

I think that cops need some additional training on the difference between a controlled substance and a basic prescription medication!!!

Oh by the way Jr is still in the litter box and even more so.  Though the charges were dismissed we are currently looking to have him donate time to a charity so he can do some form of community service.  He still did something wrong and needs to work some form of sentence.  I still believe you do the crime you do the time.   He just didn't do what they were charging him with.

OMG...I'm TIRED.....BUT I HAD FUN!!!!!!

I had so much FUN!!!!!  Okay I got up to SAFF a little later then expected...after all my whinning some of the reason I was late was my own fault, so figures......But anyways though I only got one day a SAFF, had to leave early to come back and watch the store,  I still got to see lots and lots of FUN FIBER!!!!.

Okay I bought some great felting needles, which are hand crafted by a man in Indiana (told Carl to go check him out hopefully we can bring them into the store. They are awsome!!!) .  Got some wonderful soap that I get every year from the soap man.  (Okay my friend Teri will probably shoot me for getting that cause her soap ROCKS but I just like his sents they are so me.  Not saying her scents aren't me cause they are just when your at a Fiber Fair and there is soaps that you like and you have money.  OKAY I WAS WEAK I JUST CAN'T HELP MYSELF ALRIGHT! I LOVE TO SHOP ALRIGHT I SAID IT HAPPY NOW!!!!!)

I also got Carl three Giclee prints by Conni Togel in her "Sheep Incognito" Series.

Connie is a wonderful artist and very sweet person.  Please follow the links, view and purchase some of her wonderful art.

Oh to the reason I got him the Art I have been some what in the Doghouse as of late as I forgot his Birthday back in September.  September 27th to be exact.  I remembered up until the day of.  Told Co-workers, told the Kids and had reminders on all my electronics.  However woke up that morning and POOF out of my head.  UGH!!!!! I have been in the Doghouse ever since.  He told me he forgave me after I and the kids fixed him a really nice dinner the next day.  Elizabeth made him a card.  Though he was some what of a schmuck through dinner and granted I deserved it but the kids didn't they were not home on his birthday.  We had a discussion after dinner which I apologized and he said he forgave me.  However he has been telling anyone and everyone he can tell since then.  I really do feel bad about forgetting his birthday I can totally sympathize with him do to past experiences.  I hope these three prints which each symbolize something with him, us or the kids, will help him move past my moment of Halfheimers.

Love you carl!!!

Being forced to wait!!! UGH!!!

Christmas as a child was torture.  Seeing all the presents under the tree and not being permitted to open them drove me absolutly crazy.  Well today is the first day of SAFF (Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair) and where am I, stuck minding the store.  Not that I'm bitter about watching the store, that isn't the issue, it just makes it hard cause everyone else is getting to see all the fun fiber and yarn and I'm at the store.  It is like Christmas all over again having to wait....UGH!!! the waiting is so HARRD (can you just hear the whine in my voice) LOL....I want to go play in the fiber.  It's like being at school and seeing it snow outside but schools not letting out so you can go home and play in it.

WHINE WHINE WHINE WHINE WHINE WHINE WHINE WHINE  Okay where is my cheese.......

EWWWWW!!!!!!!!

Okay, I have never really thought that there was something that I would actually be grossed out by in the Fiber world but tonight I was proven wrong...so, so wrong!!!!!!!!

Carl sent me to regretsy.com page 4.   As the page loaded, my eyes were blinded by the sight that appeared before them.  It was a crocheted Troll giving Birth!!!!!!  The title says "Childbirth Education Doll Pattern"  I'm sorry but I have never seen a woman that looked like this.  I know Barbie has really bad proportions but OMG if you showed a little girl this...the entire race would die off because no woman child would ever want to give birth.  Little girls would fear that they would turn into Trolls if they get pregnant.  I know I would have if I had been a little girl.  EEK!!!!!

I realize, having written a pattern, that it isn't easy but there are just somethings you keep to yourself!!!!!

Its a Party!!!!

The Birthday party was totally a BLAST!!!! Fun was had by all.  Gifts were given, food was eaten and people were merry.  A percentage of the sales for the day and all the money from the raffle went to the Hirsch Wellness Network. Among other things the Hirsch Network gives a creative outlet for people affected by cancer.  This is a organization that is dear to my heart as my stepmother (who I love dearly) is a survivor of Breast Cancer.  My father and I would not to this day be speaking if it was not for my Annabell.  I am blessed everyday that she is in my life.  I wish I had someone like the wonderful people with the Hirsch Wellness Network to help when I was trying to cope.  These people are an inspiration.

Most Stores do an Anniversary or Birthday Sale to earn more money for themselves. Carl and Tina with support of the entire staff wanted to give back to the community that has given all of us so much.  That is why they choose to do annual fundraiser instead.   Just because a business makes money doesn't mean that the ones who own it and the staff don't have a heart!!!

Please visit the Hirsch Wellness Network website.

Also please find any local charity near you that needs help  volunteer your local group to help and do a fundraizer of your own.  If all the Knitters Unite, We can Heal the World!

nipples nipples nipples

In a recent appearance on a friend's blog a picture of my "nipples" appeared, showing off the piercings.  Now this was not my idea though I have to admit I thought it was really funny.  This picture went along with a piece of a podcast that got cut out of the recording.  A number of people thought it was funny, however, there were a few people who were really upset by it.  What I don't understand is this podcast has been known to be racy and out there, so why is this such a shock now?!?!?!?!

If you can't stand the Gautamalaness stay out of the Drag Show!

Ok up on the soap box again

Okay I hadn't really planned to blog again but I read something tonight that put me back on my "Soap Box" yet again.

Stupid negative reviews.

I was surfing through the iTunes Store Podcast section, as I do from time to time, and I came across one done by a friend of mine.  Now I realize, as I said in my earlier rant, that you have a right to your own opinion, however if your going to voice it please do so with some intelligence.  Don't just sit there and and attack someone personally if you don't even know them.  Also these people are doing a show just like you hear on the radio, see on T.V. or look at on your iPod, the way they act on the show does not mean that is how they really are.  Also as having been involved with a podcast things are edited out so you are not really hearing the entire conversation.  So have you ever thought that a particular show that you didn't like because of the way a conversation went could have been bad editing.

Okay as you can tell Childish and immature....well just plan stupid people that don't understand the difference between Fantasy and Reality just "grind my gears".

P.S  Thanks Lois G. for a great quote to use.

Let those without sin cast the first stone

Okay I have no problems with people that don't agree with my view point and would fight for their constitutional right to have their opinion, however when their view point then infringes on my rights or the ignore the law of the land because of their view point, then I have a serious problem.  Do I agree with all the laws no but I work within the system to change them.  I work to change them to make a better world for my kids.

It pisses me off when the religious fanatics use children to promote hate.  Such as the case of the kid of the "Ex Gay" woman, who separated from her partner after renouncing her Lesbianism, that is getting money and lawyers from a fanatical religious group to keep her ex from seeing their daughter.  Though the Supreme Court of Vermont (where the two women had a civil union and lived) and the Supreme Court of Virginia (where the Ex Gay now lives and a state that doesn't recognize gay marriage or civil unions) have both stated that there is to be unsupervised visitation and the Ex gay is in contempt of court by not abiding by the visitation order.  The religious group has again filed papers trying to stop the other mother from seeing her child.  HELLO YOU HAVE LOST!!!!!!!.  STOP USING THE CHILD!!!!!

This is so sad that these people are A.  Using a child  and B.  Using their God (who teaches peace, love, and acceptance) to spread hate.

When will these people understand "Let those without sin cast the first stone"

Kilted

I'm so happy...I ordered a kilt about a month ago and it finally arrived today!!!! I am so excited. I got a text message from UPS stating it had been delivered so I ran home during lunch and changed clothing...Carl called me a goober. I couldn't help it. Everybody said I looked good. It is my first kilt. I will try an post a pic as soon as I get one. Well a good one so far the ones that I have seen the shirt I am wearing makes me look Fat, well I think it does, everyone else says it doesn't. Then again I am fat so....lol. If you want to see the kilt go to http://www.utilikilts.com/ look at the original in black.

We went to Wendy's for dinner, yes I know so health so not really on my diet but hey I feel asleep right after I got home and woke up right when Carl got home, I digress. As we were leaving these two old, and I do mean old ladies were laughing and snicker. One whispers, though it was loud enough that we could hear I think they forgot they maybe hard of hearing but the rest of the world isn't, "he's wearing a dress." I just ignored them as to me it wasn't worth commenting on and they were old anyways. Carl however piped up "It's a kilt" and we walked out. The two old women had the dear caught in headlights look on their faces and they both turned red. I really believe they didn't think I could hear them. Whats funny is I haven't gotten a second look from a man at all but women that is something different. Men have said nice kilt. Women want to know exactly what is under it.."My sandles of course" As to if I am wearing underwear or not that is for me and my husband to know....unless your a really cute bear and I might let you in on the secret...lol.

I have learned one really interesting thing about people and how our education system really really needs to bring back geography. (though whats funny is most of these people are old enough that they should have had it in school) Most people do not know there is a difference between Scotland and Ireland. Ok I realize the stupidity is rampid but HELLO why would and Irishman be from Scotland. People at work would say I didn't know your family was from Scotland. I would say well yes on my Dad's side I am from the Turnbull Clan and the Clan McFarlane. They would then ask me what Irish holiday it was that required me to wear me kilt. I never bothered to explain the difference between Scotland and Ireland. It wasn't worth the effort cause if your that stupid you need more help then I can give. Also I am Irish on my mother's side so at some level it could have made since if they had not have made the first comment.

I wrote a monologue in High School called "I HATE STUPID QUESTIONS" I so wish I knew where it was cause it so applied to today!!!!

We walked into the dairy isle at the grocery store this evening and I said ooh that's cold. Lib (my teenage daughter) asked if I was cold. I responded well it just gave me quite a chill coming into this area. She then said "Where down there?" Pointing to my bear legs. Ok I was willing to let the first question go but the second. "Hello Captain Obvious" I love my daughter to death, she is so help and sweet but lord I pray she marries wealth cause damn!!!! I am so scared once she gets out on her own she is not going to be able to cope with reality. Not that she lives in a dream world or makes bad grades but when it comes to common sense she is a walking Blonde Joke!

Prime example: I am so not a morning person and both the kids know this. Well she walked up to me and in the sickliest chipper voice, bouncing her head back and forth, "Hi daddy, its me Elizabeth." I just stared at her for a momment in total disbelieve that she was A. talking to me before I had my shower cause that is not the best idea and second because what she said. But only had I known I would have never opened my mouth to utter "Yes Elizabeth I know its you I was there the day you were born". to which she replied "Oh yea I forgot, now I remember seeing you." Ok my brain sort circuited at this point the next thing I know I awoke in my nice safe shower. Carl said I walked through mumbling something about "being to much like the Egg Donor"

anyway off to bed

Have I found the missing puzzle?

I like Greensboro I really do, but there has been something missing since I have been here. My people. Those that call me family. I don't mean Carl and the kids, I mean the people that love me for me that aren't related to me. My friends people who call me or text me just because. Invite me to dinner or lunch. Ask me to come over because they are pissed off and need to vent. Someone for me to cry on when I'm pissed off at my boyfriend or smack him for me when he is being an ass. Well with in the last year I have been finding MY PEOPLE. I feel that I have found the main person in every gay mans life the one person who keeps him grounded and picks his sorry but up when he is being to much of a Drama Queen!!! I have found a new FAG HAG. My Fag Hag. Not taking away from my other really good female friends but most are so far away. The few I have here only get one aspect of my life but this Empress, just in the few hours we have talked, has gotten me so well it is not even funny. She can even read my mind. We look at each other and know what each other is thinking. Granted it usually is pornographic but still....

Well off to take the pills to keep the headaches away and get some sleep. I have gay mans therapy at 9AM and do not want to look haggered when I see my hair stylist tomorrow morning.

Gate City Yarns

The Shop opened it was wonderful!!  I have been so busy this is the first chance I have been able sit an blog about it.  It was great to see everybody. All the flowers and foods were greatly appreciated....We even had flowers from one of the vendors!!

Since opening we had to deal with the Obama rally. We were a little slower then we would have liked but we still had customers and we could hear the speech inside the store. Before the speech Miss Olive Oyl was outside the store trying to get people to help her get rid of the McCain/Palin supporters. Hearing Olive tell off the republicans was a little funny.

We had our first "First Friday." We had spinners from Durham show up. Some of my good friends were there, Anne, Jared, Allen, Jimmy and Amanda. It was so much fun.

New stock has come in: Cascade 220. I know we are about to get a really cool new fixture and a new window display.

Well look foward to seeing everybody on Saturday.
